Where to Celebrate National Sugar Cookie Day in Bloomington

Cookies with the IU trident

Bloomington, Indiana is a foodie’s paradise—smoothie bowls, bubble tea, avocado toast, gourmet cupcakes, and anything that can be made inside of a food truck. You can satisfy just about any craving, but let’s chat about an ‘oldie but goodie.’ In honor of National Sugar Cookie Day, we’ve compiled a list of some of the best places to snag this classic dessert.

Baked!

Since opening in 2006, Baked! has become a staple in Bloomington. Not only can you order sugar cookies, but you can order any combination of their dough, mixins, and afterbakes imaginable. (We got sugar dough with chocolate chips and cream cheese frosting! 10/10 would recommend)

Other perks of this location:
• It’s within walking distance of campus.
• It’s open until 4 a.m.
• They deliver.

Two Sticks Bakery

This bakery opened shop in 2018 and was nominated for The Herald-Times Readers’ Choice 2019 Award. We fell in love with Two Sticks Bakery on our hunt for sugar cookies, but our love only grew after peeking into their case. Although you can’t view their menu before visiting, you will not be disappointed. (Pop on over to their Instagram page for a mouth-watering preview!)

Other perks of this location:
• It’s within walking distance of campus.
• The ingredients are all natural.
• They offer special event catering.

Rainbow Bakery

Just like these sugar cookies, the atmosphere of Rainbow Bakery lives up to its name. This colorful bakery has been open since 2013. Not only can you get fresh cookies, you can get donuts, cupcakes, muffins, and more! Rainbow Bakery is known both for their delicious treats and their community involvement.

Other perks of this location:
• Everything is vegan.
• The ingredients are all natural.
• Artists can submit their exhibits to display in the shop.

Crumble Coffee and Bakery

This spot also opened a small neighborhood shop in 2013. After gaining many regulars, Crumble Coffee and Bakery decided to expand. Crumble’s sugar cookies did not disappoint. Not only are their freshly baked treats delicious, but you can also order a locally roasted coffee to pair.

Other perks of this locations:
• The atmosphere is quiet and cozy.
• There are two convenient locations.
• You can order online.

Sugar and Spice

These sugar cookies were our personal favorite—you can probably guess why! Sugar and Spice has been IU’s in-house bakery for more than 50 years! Along with these school-spirited cookies, you can order many other cookie flavors, cakes, and gourmet popcorn.

Other perks of this location:
• It is located on campus in the Indiana Memorial Union.
• You can order online and ship anywhere USPS delivers.
• They sell care packages that include their sweets and more!

Blondie’s Cookies

If you’re from Indiana, chances are you might have seen a Blondie’s Cookies in your mall. This Indiana-based corporation began in 1985 in Kokomo. After three years, this bakery had expanded to five locations. One bite of their sugar cookies, and we totally understood why. Their treats are the best way to satisfy a sweet tooth during a shopping trip.

Other perks of this location:
• There are more than 20 different cookie flavors to choose from.
• There are no artificial flavors or preservatives used.
• You can order online.

The Round – Woodland Restaurants at Forest

These delicious sugar cookies can be found right here on campus at The Round inside the Woodland Restaurants at Forest. We paired these bad boys with a Starbucks coffee also available at The Round.

Other perks of this location:
• There is plenty of space to relax while enjoying your cookie.
• You can pay with your I-bucks.
• Woodland Restaurants produce zero waste.
