So if you have never heard of IUDM, you are trying to avoid it. Indiana University Dance Marathon is the nation's 2nd larget student run philanthropy. Proceeds benefit Riley Children's Hospital. Committees work all year in order to ensure a successful marathon. The event itself is a 36 hour dance marathon. Participants are not allowed to sit down the entire 36 hours. But it is really fun. You get to learn a line dance and listen to Riley stories, which is really beneficial. Oh, and you raise at least $500. Last year IUDM raised over $1.8 million. This year, I think we can beat $2 million.
Anyways, overview aside, IUDM puts on a bunch of different events throughout the year. We hosted Rockin' for Riley the first weekend back at school, a flash dance last spring, and just last Friday we hosted a "Runway Riley." This was an event where the apparel committee premiered the apparel for the marathon by having Riley children be the models. It was the first ever event this year, and the turnout was outstanding. We had over 500 people in attendance, which was not expected at all. It was also really cute. You got to see this cute little Riley kids strutting their stuff and feeling like superstars. Personally, it motivated me to keep fundraising.
Since I am on Event Documentation, I have a few pictures from Runway Riley that I will share. If you want to see more, you'll have to check out IUDM. If you want to get involved, it's never too late. Register here >http://www.iudm.org
This is one model!
My flash wasn't quitteeee working, but I thought this picture turned out pretty cool. This is Riley. She is a really awesome Riley kid, and she put it best at Rockin' for Riley, when she said that during IUDM she gets to hang out with 2000 of her closest friends.
look at how many people are there! It was such an amazing turnout.
That's all I got for Runway Riley folks,
peace, love, IU
