My New Tattoo

Every family has that one common interest that brings them together. For my family, it's The Lord of the Rings. The characters, the storyline, we love everything about the amazing triology.

The books are easily some of my favorites. I've seen each movie well over 10 times and I still don't get tired of them.

There's one quote that stands out to me: "Not all those who wander are lost." This can apply to college, to post-graduation, or to life in general. To me, it means that though you have to wander around the world to find your niche, you are never alone, and you are never so far gone that no one can help you.

Because the quote is so insightful and inspiriring, and it's from my favorite movie triology, it only made sense to get it as a tattoo. I went to Skinquake Tattoos on N. Walnut St. (right by Kirkwood). Though I'm sure I could've gone other places to get it done cheaper, I went here because I knew the staff, knew they would do a good job, and it's pretty close to campus (so I wouldn't have to take a bus and end up on the other side of town).

It's only took about 15 minutes to do the entire thing. One thing you should know is that I'm a moderately pain-tolerant person; I don't like pain all that well, but I can deal with it. From 1-10, with 10 being the worst pain, it was about an 8. To be completely honest, it did hurt. However, again, it only took 15 minutes and then it was over and done with. If I had to do it again, I would, but I don't plan to any time soon. For those out there wanting to get a foot tattoo, especially if it's your first tattoo, I would tell you to go for it. If it's something you really want, some pain isn't too much of a price to pay.

To those who just got tattoos or plan on getting tattoos, my advice to you:
- Feet tattoos take about 2-3 weeks to heal, which is a little longer than tattoos in other places
- Don't pick at it when it begins to heal
- Make sure to wash it with soap and warm water frequently
- After a few days, use un-scented lotion on it a couple times a day
- Make sure to dry it completely when you get out of the shower

Now go on out there and get inked! :)

This was a few minutes after I got it. ^^

This is almost two weeks after (it'll be two weeks on Thursday)
