Easing into Spring, Btown Style: from March Madness to campus outdoors!

Bloomington is undeniably a beautiful place to be. This week, the weather has been absolutely gorgeous and a ton of people have been able to enjoy using the campus for the first time in awhile. Sunshine, cool breeze, and clear skies were around for most the week.

Not only that, but with March Madness in full swing, and the Hoosiers in a rematch tonight with UK for the Sweet Sixteen, I'd say Bloomington is the best place to be on earth right now. (Depending on how the games goes of course...but for my bracket's sake, I'm counting on IU to win again!)

To help ease back into school life after being away on vacation for a week, a lot of students took advantage of the sun this week.  Here are a few ways to soak up the sunshine while at IU, whether you're here now or joining us someday in the future:

Something organized: If you didn't join a club sport earlier in the year, now it's easier than ever. I know of two that meet most evenings- the Tennis Club team around 5 and the Run Club around 6. With the nicer weather, practices and meet-ups have been moved back outside! It's a great way to take advantage of the weather and meet new people who share your interests.

Something a little less formal: Frisbee on the lawn. IU's campus has so much green space, and when it's nice out, students take advantage of every inch to toss a Frisbee, football, or just stretch out and relax in between classes. The Arboretum is practically a park and you can find tons of kids napping under trees or tanning the sunshine. Most campus resident areas also have big lawns out front (particularly Wright and Union Street) that are great for Frisbee games. Pick-up basketball games in courts by the dorms or volleyball games behind Teter also pop up a lot this time of year.

Other ways to enjoy the sunshine: Eat outside, study outside, read outside, walk outside, sleep outside... because LetsBeHonest...isn't everything better outside after a winter stuck indoors? :)

Enjoy it!

As for the game tonight, gooooo Hoosiers!

I am a journalism major and business minor and plan to graduate in May 2014. Some of my best experiences in life have been because of IU, including studying abroad, meeting great people, and having an awesome internship

After I graduate, I hope to get into the broadcast journalism field, either traveling as a field reporter or getting to cover local events. I'm still exploring what specific area interests me but am open to just about anything!

I am looking forward to sharing all of my experience and everything that makes IU such a great place to be on this blog!
