I've just returned from 8 weeks abroad with the journalism school's program, Summer in London. While away, I got the chance to visit Bath, Stonehenge, Canterbury, Dover, Oxford, and even Paris. But I'm here to tell you that no place compares to Bloomington.
As an incoming freshman just two short years ago, I never could've imagined how much Bloomington would mean to me or how much I would come to identify with living there. However, while I was out of the country, there was no place that I missed more. Whether it's the buzzing atmosphere, a walk down Kirkwood, the gorgeous green campus, or general feeling of being there, Bloomington is the best place to live and it will soon become your second home.
In the beginning, nothing about this campus will be familiar, but it won't take long before you find your own favorite study spot, place to eat, tree to sit under, or place to hang out with your friends. Before you know it, you've carved out your own niche of IU's campus, and it will become more and more a part of you throughout the next four years than you ever thought possible.
So hit the ground running when you get into town. Don't hesitate to explore, because no matter how much time you spend here, there will still always be something new to see, do, or find. It may seem like the beginning of a long road right now, but there's not nearly enough time in the world. Just try to soak it up as much as you can for now and enjoy four years of being able to call the best place on Earth home :)
