Hello Everyone! My name is Mindy Furst, I'm a Hoosier. I'm currently a sophomore studying journalism at Indiana University. I am originally from a small blip on the map, known as Milton, Indiana. With that said, I know what it's like to come to a city like Bloomington from a very small town.
I chose to attend IU after spending my freshman year at another University and realizing it just wasn't the right fit for me. I fell in love with IU after spending a fall weekend on campus, where I attended a football game, got a personal tour of the campus from a fellow student, explored Kirkwood Avenue and saw all the wonders of what it is like to be a student here. I transferred here in the fall of 2011 and continue to be surprised and impressed at everything our campus has to offer. There is always something fun happening, and the staff are always trying to improve the student experience.
I chose journalism as a major, because I think that communication is one of the most important tools that we have in this world. I have always been passionate about writing and sharing information with others. My current interests are within magazine writing and broadcast journalism. I have also explored photojournalism and newspaper writing.
Other than being a constant writer, I also enjoy music and art. My hobbies include drawing, finding new artists and songs, playing video games, meeting new people and finding new hot spots around campus. I am a big fan of IU Basketball; I never miss a game! I also love attending concerts and other events around campus.
Whether you are still in high school or are already in college, I recommend checking out Indiana University. Read our blogs, take a tour and just see what we have to offer. You never know, you might find something here that you can't find anywhere else!
