Lauren MartinVisual/Digital + Sustainability Communications Major '16
As a junior in the Individualized Major Program, I've always been looking for different ways to connect my diverse interests. From sustainability, to art, to gardening, to writing, to international studies I've had a hard time pinning down one major. I'm so grateful that IU offers the Individualized Major because it has allowed me to explore my interests in a holistic way, really getting in touch with all perspectives.
I am currently the Vice President of SPROUTS student garden and the Communications and Outreach Intern at the IU Office of Sustainability. I represent SPROUTS on the Student Sustainability Council and the IUOS Food Working Group. I do communications work for Bloomington Community Orchard as well as some free lance graphic design. Being involved in the sustainable food movement on campus has really shaped by experience at IU, creating my community of friends as well as working towards a more sustainable future on campus.
In my free time I enjoy painting watercolors, reading, knitting, practicing yoga, and playing with herbal remedies. Feel free to reach out to me if you want to learn about any of the numerous opportunities on campus to enrich your life by taking action for a better planet.
