Many of you may think, "Oh tests won't be that hard" or "I don't need to study that much." Well think again. Coming in as a freshman last year, I was unaware of the impact certain exams have on your final grade. In high school, if you don't do your best on a exam, your homework usually brought up your grade. However, in college, homework and other assignments don't bring up your grade as much as you'd like.
The Wells library should become one of your best friends! I know that people have different areas where they enjoy reading or studying, but personally I have to read/study somewhere quiet. Wells has many different quiet floors, quiet floors with computers, or even floors where you can talk quietly with your friends.
Make sure you're staying on top of all your schoolwork and readings because your first exam will surprise you. Now I'm not saying that college is extremely difficult or impossible, but just trying to stress the fact that college isn't a blowoff. Also, there are many professors and TA's that want to help you! Don't be afraid to go to your professor's office hours. Take advantage of getting to know them and getting help with material that isn't clear. Don't be embarrassed or ashamed to go to Help Sessions. It's better to feel like you understand the information than struggling with material that you have no clue about.
Always remember: Show up to class, take notes, read, study, and you'll perform well in your class.Take pride in not only going to Indiana University, but also doing well in your Academics.
Stay true, Stay you.
