A little about me, before I start posting. . . My name is Jayne Fortner and I'm a Creative Writing Major here at IU, from which I will graduate in the spring of 2014. Born in Bloomington I always wanted to study at IU and even when my family moved to Florida for a few years I knew I'd be back.
The youngest child and only daughter of five I grew up with a lot of different views on life all around me, which is one of the things that I love about IU - its open mindedness. The movie "Breaking Away" doesn't remind me of dorm parties, instead it reminds me of the history of all the buildings shown in the film that my dad would tell me when we watched it. IU's history is one of the things that drew me too this beautiful campus. My mother went to IU to get her B.A. in criminal Justice and psychology when I was about 7 and it was through going to classes with her that I first fell in love with the actual school itself. Bloomington, IU in particular, has always meant a lot to me and I can't imagine going to school anywhere else.
To be honest I got off to a rocky start at IU and I'm just now figuring how to balance all the different aspects of my life. Between school, work, my fiance, and my four cats I've set myself up for a lot of all-nighters. (I'm going on my 28th hour awake right now) But, IU is equipped to handle people in all stages of their lives. Whether you've put your paper off until the last minute or you're just trying to escape needy cats the Wells library is always a good option. Many of the professors at IU are also willing to help above and beyond what you could expect, they really want you to succeed.
So, to sum up, B-town is where its at and through my posts I'll show you why.
