Fall break... Is it really a break?

As a Senior I was pumped about IU finally being one of the schools that has a Fall break! My friends at other Universities always rave about how great their Fall break's are. They get to visit other schools, go home for a long weekend, or both! In fact, this past weekend was Purdue's fall break and my roommate had her friends come down for our homecoming weekend and drive back Monday.

I'm sure I am not the only one here who is not thrilled about having a Friday off and calling it a Fall break. For most students, they don't have friday classes after Freshman year anyway (if possible). Another problem is that this Fall break falls on a weekend of a home Football game. The opportunity to travel does not seem as appealing for this break if there are things to do on campus. Also, it is drawing attendance away from the football game.

Now I know this blog has just been a whole lot of complaining, and I appologize, but I just want to know who's with me. Would you rather have a longer Winter break or Spring break by one day than just a Friday off for Fall break? Or a Monday off instead of a Friday for a Fall break?

I am not the type to turn this not so ideal Fall break into a bad one. Instead, my roommate and I decided to create our own (slightly longer by saving our absences for this Monday) Fall break and head to New York to visit our roommate who graduated from IU last year. We are super excited about this road trip, and there will be an updated post as soon as we return!

On the right is the roommate that we will be reunited with in New York. The picture is from last Halloween in front of our house just off campus!
