5 tips for Class Registration at IU

Let me just start by saying that I cannot believe I just registered for my last semester of classes at Indiana University. This is unreal. With that being said, I know that registration is continuing all this week and I have some tricks for you before you sign up!

1. Be prepared

Having an enrollment shopping cart is key to being prepared to register for classes. Make sure that you have classes picked out, and back up classes written down prior to your registration date. Look up your date and time of registration so you can be ready.

2. Set an alarm

It may not seem like a big deal if you sign up at 9:30 when you are assigned, or 11 when you wake up... but believe me, that could mean the difference between getting into an 8am class or the 11:15 section (and you don't want that to happen). So make sure you are ready right on time!

3. Don't fear the waitlist

Although it may seem terrible if you cannot get into the section of a class you wanted. If you have to get on a waitlist and you are one of the top three spots there is a high probability that you will get into that class. Also make sure to use the 'drop if enroll feature.'

4. Use the 'Drop if enroll' feature

This is a feature that allows you to have a class be dropped automatically if you get enrolled in another class without you having to do anything! For example: If you 2nd on a waitlist for a 9:30 section of a class, and just to be safe you enroll in the 8am section. Then on the 8am class you can use the 'drop if enroll' feature so that this class will be dropped if you get enrolled in the 9:30 section. Another bonus: You won't get charged for adding and dropping classes if you do it this way!

5. Theres always next year

As long as you aren't a senior, don't fret about not getting into a class. Sign up for the ones that must be taken this semester, and any electives that you don't get into, there's always next semester!
