I'm what people call a foodie. I mean, I'm really passionate about food. I love cooking, I love going out to eat, I love trying new food; I just love it. It's seriously fascinating that I'm not dangerously overweight. People see me finish a giant cheeseburger like it was a couple of crackers and they are like, "Dang girl, where did you learn to eat like that?" It's borderline un-ladylike.
One of the reasons why I am SO happy I go to school at Indiana University is because Bloomington is full of amazing, locally-owned restaurants. I've been here for a little over a year, and I've been to more restaurants than my roommate, who has been here for three. Enough said. I've tried burgers from all over Btown. Hinkle's, Opie Taylor's, Scotty's, Feast, Malibu Grill, Smokin' Jack's... I'll stop there.
Last weekend, I found my favorite burger spot in Bloomington. The restaurant is Bub's Burgers and Ice Cream, and it's delicious. So delicious that I am writing a blog post about it for the second time. I went there with my roommate because I had heard great reviews from locals. We walked in and immediately felt a good atmosphere after noticing that the walls are covered with pictures of Hoosiers who were able to eat their "Big Ugly" burger. Right when we sat down, our waitress gave us our menus and samples of their soups--which were delicious, by the way. But I'm sure you already know I didn't order soup. I got an elk burger, a strawberry malt shake, and split an order of waffle fries with my roommate. Warning: the shakes are HUGE! They bring it out in a huge mug, then bring you what's left in the blender. Even I couldn't finish it. It was so unhealthy, but worth every calorie (that I'm still trying to burn off).
The moral of my blog is that you need to get a burger from Bub's if you haven't already. And the sub-moral is to just go out and try any local restaurant. I promise you'll find something good, and supporting local business is a major plus!
Bub's street address is 480 N. Morton Street Bloomington, IN 47404. They are located at the corner of 9th and Morton, right behind the Cardinal Fitness by Smallwood.
