Last Friday Night: I Got Baked!

If you were like me and countless others Friday night, you stayed in due to Saturday morning midterms and/or the horrible weather. (Dark + cold + wind + pouring rain = stay in your room.) This, of course, means ordering food to your residence!

Don't know what you want? These two websites can help you out: and click on Bloomington - Here, you can search for restaurants by the type of food you want. It's so convenient.

I decided on Chinese food. Then, of course, came dessert. And for that, there was only one option:

For those of you who have never heard of Baked! or have never eaten there/ordered it, it is a customized cookie place. You order three cookies (six if you're getting them delivered) and can add ice cream or milk. I'll take you through the process:

First, you choose the kind of cookie dough you want. Options include sugar, chocolate, oatmeal, and peanut butter. I recommend the sugar.

Next, you choose "fix-ins" - things you want baked inside the cookie. These include things like your traditional chocolate chips, M&Ms, nuts; you can also choose some unique things like Oreos, graham crackers, and pretzels. I highly recommend using graham crackers. It adds softness to the cookie and enhances the flavor.

Finally, you choose what goes on top of your cookie. For free, you can add frosting, honey, or caramel. For an additional charge, you can add candy like Hershey's Kisses and Twix.

Because I ordered six cookies, I had the ability to create two different kinds. My first one consisted of sugar dough with regular and white chocolate chips, graham crackers and sprinkles with vanilla frosting on top. The second one was made of chocolate dough with regular and mint chocolate chips, M&Ms and Oreos, also with vanilla frosting on top. The final product is shown here! It was truly amazing, and the chocolate milk made it even better.

Warning: These cookies are filling. I love cookies, and I barely got through three of them. So just save the other three and the second carton of milk you get with the order for another time!

This is one of those little things that are a part of the IU experience, so make sure you experience the wonders that is Baked! during your time here! Your choices are endless!

Alyssa SchorProud IU Student, Class of 2016

Hello Hoosiers! My name is Alyssa Schor and I'm a journalism major specializing in public relations with a minor in psychology. I've previously written for the Indiana Daily Student and this fall will serve as editor-in-chief of The Odyssey, a publication geared for students in Greek life. It's the perfect cross between my passion for Greek life, my skills in journalism and my career goals in PR.

I'm a member of the PR committee for IU Dance Marathon and have also helped out the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) with their annual Greek media training event. I like chocolate and food in general a lot, and you'll occasionally find me at Hillel eating their delicious challah and matzah ball soup (or whatever else they're serving that day).

This is now my third year (what?!) blogging for, and I keep doing it because I'm so excited to share my stories with you and serve as a great resource for current and future IU students. If there is anything you want me to write about, let me know!
