One Of IU's Best Traditions: Little 500!!

This past weekend was the Little 500, commonly referred to as Little 5 or the World's Greatest College Weekend (seriously Google that and it will come up with the Little 500).  Whatever you want to call it, it is definitely something you have to experience if you go to IU or come to visit to see for yourself how fun it is!

There is a Women's and Men's race and a lot of events like concerts and parties throughout the week and weekend. The Women's race, which is 100 laps around the track,  was on Friday night and unfortunately it was raining. I didn't go, but I heard it was an exciting race and DELTA GAMMA pulled out the win. It was a nice day, although a little chilly, on Saturday for the Men's race. It was 200 laps of excitement and multiple crashes. In the end, DELTA TAU DELTA got the win for the very first time ever!! It was exciting to say the least.

Like I said before, there are all kinds of events throughout the week, but don't forget about school too! Some professors are nice and will cancel class on the Thursday or Friday before Little 5 weekend (my Friday classes were canceled!) but some won't. My friend's professor gave her class extra credit for showing up to her Friday morning class! But again, some professors won't do anything and you could lose attendance points if you are not there. That means it's up to YOU to be responsible and think about your priorities. There are dartys (day parties) and night parties every night if that's your thing, so don't feel like you're missing out if you go to class; class is more important!

In the end, Little 5 is about celebrating almost-the-end-of-school. Greeks usually throw the parties, but everyone has a great time. They are pretty much open parties and some have special themes! I went to one where everyone dressed in Neon.

Whether you're a current student, prospective student, parent, alumni, or Little 5 participant, you will have a great time!
