From homework, to study nights, and surviving long labs there's one common drink that helps us to survive it all: Coffee! In a thriving city such as Bloomington there are many options both on and off campus to find your perfect cup of joe. Each place has a completely different feel and suits many different tastes.
The most common coffee brand is Starbuck's. Thankfully, Bloomington is home to three Starbucks locations close to campus. In the center of campus the IMU proudly serves all your Starbucks favorites offering a large lounge/study area to enjoy your latte. Past the southeast side of campus,Third Street hosts another more modern Starbucks location offering a nice chance to venture to another part of Bloomington. Last but not least is the famous Kirkwood location is my personal go to Starbuck's location offering indoor and outdoor seating along with beautiful sample gate views.
Though Starbuck's is a classic and loved by many, Bloomington has many other locations to offer to all coffee lovers. Hopscotch Coffee offers a modern colorful environment serving classics such as a mocha but also serves it's own specialty drink called a Sparkler which is a fizzy iced americano. The espresso is tangy and the music relaxes your senses.
Next on the list is The Pourhouse on Kirkwood Avenue. The Pourhouse strives to be more than a simple coffee shop. The mission of The Pourhouse is to create lively discussion, blooming friendships, and worldwide benevolence through our premium coffee. (The Pourhouse Cafe, 2017). A special item you can only get at The Pourhouse is the Cream and Crimson Frappe.
Another hot coffee spot on Kirkwood is Soma Coffeehouse which offers a full service coffee bar. Soma has a wide variety of options to choose from so you are bound to find something special for everyone. Some of the most popular items are from their specialty list of drinks such as a Razz-ma-tazz that combines chocolate and raspberry to the unique Peanut Butter Cup O' Joe offering a blend of peanut butter along with cocoa. Soma also has two other locations near campus!
Another convenient location on campus is the IMU's Sugar and Spice. Sugar and Spice offers any seasonal twists such as a pumpkin spice latte, but what really makes this coffee stop special is all the sweet treats you can pair with your cup of coffee, such as cakes, brownies, and cookies.
So there you go! Have another favorite spot in Bloomington to grab a cup? Let us know in the comments!
