Don't Move to Campus without these Res Hall Essentials!

Fall 2018 is coming faster than you think, especially if you are incoming freshmen. Everything happens so fast, you have very little time to itemize what you need and what you don’t need in your room. Don't worry, we've got you covered! These are the res hall essentials that might be useful in the long run (AKA: all four years of college!)

The Basics: The dorm room basics are pillows, bed covers, closet hangers, laundry hampers, shower caddy, storage bins etc. These are essential and probably all the stuff you already bought.

Extension Cords: This is the most important essential! If you do not have extension cords in your room, it is almost impossible to charge your electronics or to plug in any extra stuff you need to use as you do not have enough outlets in your room. Having extension cords helps you keep your electronics closer as you don’t have to get up every time you need to charge your phone or your laptop.

Water Filter: The second most important thing you need to have in your room! Having a water filter in your room saves you time, energy, and money of buying bottled water. You can have water in your room at all times and it does not take up a lot of space. You don’t have to worry about it as the replaceable filter lasts up to six to eight months. And it is also sustainable!

White Board or Calendar: Once classes begin you have loads of work you sometimes cannot keep track of or just can’t remember. Having a whiteboard or calendar in your room makes it easy for you to stay on track and know when your deadlines are or what you have to do in the coming weeks.

Adjustable Lamp: If you are a night owl and love studying late at night, you should consider investing in a adjustable study lamp especially if you are going to be living with a roommate and want to avoid conflict. You can adjust the lighting to your liking on your desk and study or do your work without disrupting your roommates sleep.

Fold-able Chair: If you are the kind of person that does not like sitting on your bed or do not like your guests sitting on your bed then definitely buy fold-able chairs instead of a futon as the chairs are easier to move around and they also do not take up a lot of space in your room. If you are not using them, you can always fold them up and store them under your bed.

Portable Speaker: If you are a huge music fan and love listening to music, a portable speaker will come in handy. You can listen to music while studying in your room or on a Friday night when you have friends over.
